Full Job Description

The Summer Program Teacher (Reading Reaps Rewards Summer Program Instructor) will oversee the implementation of the curriculum and activities for the Summer Adventure Camp program at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. Instructors will work primarily with a group of youth who are between the ages of 6 and 9 years old. We are looking to a hire certified teacher who has experience working with elementary school aged youth and who is willing to work with community partners to help construct a curriculum and then implement it during the weeks of June 27th- August 19th. Instructor will be responsible for professional development for staff, creating reports and curriculum.

Program Description: The MLK Community Center is running an 8-week summer learning camp focused on summer learning loss prevention. The program involves rising first to fifth graders who will be engaged through experiential learning throughout the summer.

Qualifications

Rhode Island Teaching Certification required
Experience working in a summer camp setting preferred.
Ability to work with children and keep them actively engaged in a variety of activities.
Must complete Background Check, CANTS, and be willing to complete all immunization requirements that are mandated by the State of Rhode Island
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels including staff, parents, and children.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Be available for all weeks of the summer camp program.
