We are a growing multi-location Allergy & Immunology specialty practice based in Houston, Texas, seeking an experienced remote insurance credentialing specialist or credentialing company to manage all aspects of provider enrollment, credentialing, recredentialing, and payer maintenance.
This is not an employee position. We are seeking an external credentialing professional or company who will serve as our credentialing partner. You will work remotely while coordinating closely with our practice administrator and management team.
Scope of Services
The selected credentialing specialist/company will be responsible for managing the complete provider credentialing lifecycle for physicians and advanced practice providers.
Provider Credentialing
- Complete initial credentialing applications.
- Manage all provider recredentialing.
- Track credential expiration dates.
- Obtain provider signatures as needed.
- Maintain organized electronic credentialing files.
- Ensure uninterrupted credentialing status for all providers.
Insurance Enrollment
Responsible for enrollment and maintenance with:
- Medicare
- Texas Medicaid
- Commercial insurance carriers
- Managed Medicaid plans
- Workers' Compensation
- Third-party administrators
- New insurance plans requested by the practice
Provider Maintenance
Maintain all provider information including:
- Practice locations
- Tax IDs
- NPIs
- Contact information
- Banking information
- Group affiliations
- Provider roster updates
- Practice ownership changes
CAQH Management
Maintain all CAQH profiles including:
- Quarterly attestations
- Document uploads
- License renewals
- DEA updates
- Board certification updates
- Malpractice certificates
PECOS & Government Portals
Maintain and update:
- Medicare PECOS
- NPPES
- Texas Medicaid provider portal
- Other state or federal enrollment systems as required
Insurance Follow-Up
- Track every submitted application until approval.
- Contact insurance companies routinely to prevent delays.
- Respond promptly to payer requests for additional documentation.
- Escalate delayed applications appropriately.
- Document all communications with insurance carriers.
Ongoing Credentialing Maintenance
Notify the practice of upcoming expirations, including:
- Medical licenses
- DEA registrations
- Board certifications
- Malpractice insurance
- CAQH attestations
- Hospital privileges (when applicable)
Reporting Requirements
Provide monthly status reports including:
- Pending applications
- Approved applications
- Outstanding payer requests
- Providers due for recredentialing
- Expiring credentials
- Enrollment issues requiring practice assistance
Expected Service Standards (KPIs)
The credentialing partner should be able to consistently meet the following expectations:
- Submit complete credentialing applications within 5 business days of receiving all required documents.
- Follow up with every insurance carrier at least weekly until enrollment is complete.
- Maintain 100% active credentialing status for all providers.
- Prevent avoidable lapses in provider participation.
- Respond to practice emails within one business day.
- Maintain accurate records with minimal errors.
- Communicate delays proactively rather than waiting for the practice to inquire.
Preferred Experience
The ideal credentialing partner has experience with:
- Multi-provider medical groups
- Multi-location specialty practices
- Texas-based physician credentialing
- Allergy & Immunology practices (preferred)
- Internal Medicine or specialty practices
- Medicare and Texas Medicaid enrollment
- Commercial payer credentialing
- CAQH
- PECOS
- Provider contracting
- Group practice enrollments
- New practice and satellite office enrollments
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of insurance credentialing experience
- Demonstrated experience credentialing physicians in Texas
- Strong knowledge of commercial payer enrollment processes
- Experience managing multiple providers simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Communication Expectations
The credentialing partner will:
- Work remotely using their own office and equipment.
- Communicate primarily through email, phone, and virtual meetings.
- Coordinate closely with our office manager and physician leadership.
- Provide regular progress updates without requiring frequent follow-up.
- Maintain confidentiality of all provider and practice information.

- Years of credentialing experience
- Experience with Texas physician credentialing
- List of insurance carriers commonly credentialed
- References from current or previous medical practices
- Pricing structure (per provider, hourly, monthly retainer, or project-based)

- Software or credentialing platforms utilized
Ideal Partner
We are looking for a long-term credentialing partner who functions as an extension of our administrative team. The ideal individual or company is proactive, responsive, detail-oriented, and capable of independently managing provider credentialing while minimizing reimbursement delays and administrative burden on our practice. Experience supporting growing, multi-location specialty practices is highly preferred.
Pay: $24.28 - $29.24 per hour
