Quality Assurance Technologist
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Troubleshoot product quality and processing issues on the production floor.
- Perform statistical analysis of in-process and 24-hour test results to modify existing product specifications. Use trend analysis techniques.
- Support Quality Assurance and production staff when quality issues arise with existing products using root cause and CAPA techniques.
- Analysis and documentation of data for reformulations of products.
- Perform lab/bench qualitative testing of on hold products to determine the proper amount of rework to be added on a larger scale on the production floor.
- Work closely with R&D and plant engineering personnel to facilitate the transition of manufacturing products between cook stations.
- Upholds and drives quality policies, programs and standards in facility.
- Participate in all QA meetings and new product activities with operations as required.
- Coordinate with raw material suppliers regarding root cause analysis for product quality concerns, as required.
- Troubleshoot technical issues including laboratory instruments.
- Involved in customer support (especially customer trials as assigned).
- Responsible for food safety and quality of the product produced or packaged on a daily basis.
- Initiate corrective action by reporting any food safety or quality problems/issues to supervisor or designee.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: College degree in science discipline, Food Science or Chemistry preferred.
Required Knowledge: Knowledgeable of GMP’s, sanitation, SOP’s, Allergen Control and HACCP. Good understanding of the science and food science behind process control, chemistry and machinery/processing equipment functioning.
Experience Required: 1-4 years in food product development or quality assurance experience
Preferred Experience with PCQI Certification, HACCP Certification, SQF, Organic, Gluten Free, Kosher, Halal, and/or Acidified Foods
