Nexus Recovery is a co-occurring enhanced residential rehabilitation house that offers substance use disorder support, usually when clients are receiving treatment for substance use disorder. We are dedicated to helping individuals find long term and meaningful recovery.
A Recovery Specialist performs a variety of tasks to assist individuals in their recovery process. These tasks include recovery and wellness support, mentoring, and advocacy. Assists and supports residents, articulating goals for recovering while providing hope, encouragement, self-determination and connections within the community. Serves as a role model, advocate, mentor and motivator to patients in order to promote long-term recovery.
Essential Functions
o Provides patient supervision in a residential setting.
o Utilize and promotes the appropriate treatment model with all patients.
o Monitors patient behavior, schedule, activities and intervenes/ reports any unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to the relevant professionals.
o Assist patients in building social skills, coping techniques, recovery tools, empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy.
o Ensure the safety of all residents by proactively addressing escalating behaviors and physical plant issues, by monitoring activities, by conducting and documenting checks, and by contacting on-call staff when necessary.
o Knowledge of 12-step treatment models and its application in treatment
o Possess strong ethical standards and maintaining professional standards at all times.
o Attend staff meetings and program required trainings as instructed.
o Provide guidance and direction to residents in their orientation and adjustment to the house and the community.
o Ensure patients arrive safely to treatment schedules, appointments, meetings
o Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
A candidate for this position must have a minimum of a high school diploma and six months experience working in health and human services, preferably with those with substance use disorder. Lived experience with substance use disorder preferred. For applicants with lived experience with substance use disorder, 6 months of sustained and uninterrupted recovery. Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and a safe driving record. Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
Required Education and Experience
· High school diploma
· Six months experience in health and human service-related field preferred, preferably working with those with substance use disorders.
· Flexibility to work weekends on a scheduled basis, and as-needed with reasonable notice when available.
· Demonstrated understanding of, and committed to adhere to, federal and state policies (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA) and ensure appropriate releases are obtained prior to exchanging or disclosing necessary patient information.
· Demonstrated verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

· Basic proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, Email and Apps
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
