Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive band curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
- Teach instrumental techniques, music theory, and performance skills to students of varying skill levels.
- Organize and conduct rehearsals, ensuring students are well-prepared for performances and competitions.
- Collaborate with other music faculty and staff to create a cohesive music program.
- Plan and coordinate band performances, including concerts, festivals, and competitions.
- Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to help them improve.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and program updates.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with music education trends.
- Maintain and care for musical instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Music Education or willing to obtain.
- Proven experience in teaching band or instrumental music at the secondary level.
- Proficiency in conducting and teaching various band instruments.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and performance practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
