Position Summary
The Golf Operations & Tournament Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily golf operations while planning, organizing, and executing tournaments and special golf events. This position serves as the primary point of contact for golfers, members, tournament organizers, and guests to ensure exceptional customer experiences. The Golf Operations & Tournament Coordinator also serves as the Chairperson of the Member Tournament Committee, working with committee members to develop and coordinate the Club's annual tournament schedule, improve member participation, and enhance the overall golf experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Golf Operations
- Open and close the golf operation according to established procedures.
- Oversee daily tee sheet management and pace of play.
- Coordinate golfer check-in and ensure accurate billing.
- Maintain golf cart fleet readiness, including cleanliness, fueling, and organization.
- Ensure practice facilities are stocked, clean, and operating properly.
- Monitor course conditions and communicate with the Golf Course Superintendent regarding maintenance needs or weather-related closures.
- Enforce Club policies, golf etiquette, pace of play standards, and USGA Rules of Golf.
- Assist members and guests with tee times, merchandise purchases, and general inquiries.
- Train and supervise golf operations staff as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional golf shop.
Tournament Management
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all member, corporate, charity, and Club golf tournaments.
- Serve as Chairperson of the Member Tournament Committee, leading meetings, developing the annual tournament calendar, coordinating committee initiatives, and implementing improvements to member events.
- Work with committee members to create new tournaments and increase member participation.
- Meet with tournament organizers to determine event needs and expectations.
- Prepare tournament contracts, pairings, scorecards, cart signs, rules sheets, scoreboards, and event materials.
- Coordinate tournament food and beverage services with Clubhouse management.
- Organize scoring, contests, awards presentations, prize distribution, and post-event reporting.
- Ensure tournaments are professionally conducted from registration through completion.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service to members, guests, and tournament participants.
- Professionally resolve customer concerns and complaints.
- Promote memberships, leagues, tournaments, golf instruction, and Club events.
- Build positive relationships that encourage repeat play and member satisfaction.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate tournament schedules, handicap records when applicable, and operational reports.
- Assist with budgeting and expense control related to golf operations.
- Monitor golf shop merchandise and operational supply inventory.
- Utilize point-of-sale and golf management software efficiently.
- Prepare reports as requested by management.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with Clubhouse and special events as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous golf course, country club, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Tournament management experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the game of golf is required, including the USGA Rules of Golf, handicap system, tournament formats, scoring methods, and proper golf etiquette.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with golf management and point-of-sale software preferred.
- Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and tournament schedules.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safely operate golf carts and light equipment.
Performance Expectations
- Provide exceptional service to members and guests.
- Successfully lead the Member Tournament Committee and execute a high-quality annual tournament schedule.
- Ensure tournaments are organized, profitable, and professionally managed.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
