Job Summary:
JM Staffing / JM Medi-Stat is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to provide mental health care within a county jail setting. This role focuses on intake screening, crisis stabilization, and short-term psychiatric management for incarcerated individuals. The RN works in collaboration with correctional and healthcare teams to ensure safe, timely, and effective mental health services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mental health intake screenings and initial psychiatric assessments for newly booked inmates
- Conduct suicide risk assessments and initiate appropriate precautions
- Provide crisis intervention for acute psychiatric episodes, intoxication, or withdrawal
- Administer and monitor psychotropic medications
- Identify and assist in management of substance withdrawal symptoms
- Develop and update short-term mental health care plans
- Monitor high-risk inmates, including those on suicide watch or in segregation
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, LCSWs, medical staff, and custody personnel
- Respond to mental health emergencies, including self-harm or aggressive behavior
- Maintain accurate electronic health record (EHR) documentation
- Provide brief patient education and discharge coordination when applicable
- Ensure compliance with county regulations, NCCHC standards, and JM Medi-Stat policies
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- Minimum 1 year of experience in psychiatric, emergency, or correctional nursing
- Experience with high-acuity or crisis populations preferred
- BLS required; CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) preferred

Pay: $114,400.00 - $126,880.00 per year
