Pediatric Partners of the Southwest was founded in July 2005 with the mission of providing high-quality, compassionate, and holistic pediatric care to the babies, children and adolescents of our community. We have compiled a wonderful team of board certified Pediatricians, Physician's Assistants, and Pediatric Nurse Practitioners who specialize in the care of infants, children and young adults. Pediatric Partners' board-certified pediatricians also serve as Mercy Regional Medical Center’s only inpatient pediatricians, providing around-the-clock coverage for newborns, critically ill and premature babies, as well as hospitalized pediatric patients.
Job Description:
The licensed nurse works as a member of the multi-disciplinary integrated patient care team performing telephone triage following the Barton-Schmitt Clear Triage protocols. This role would also include being the Medical Home nurse champion for our Asthma Medical home and cross covering the Diabetes Medical home, assisting with the specialty outreach and telemedicine clinics through Children’s Hospital of Colorado, as well as the opportunity to assist the Nurse Lead in training of clinical staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Phone triage under provider supervision using Barton-Schmitt Clear Triage software.
- Managing and coordinating of care of the Asthma Medical Home with supervision from Provider lead and Nurse Lead.
- Assisting with Outreach and telemedicine specialty clinics with Children’s Hospital of Colorado.
- Assisting the provider with office procedures, including suturing, splinting, wound debridement, bladder catheterization etc.
- Managing patient flow in clinic, communicating with family advocates, behavioral health counselor and the providers to assure that patient care is timely, and that the provider is efficient.
- Educating and administration of immunizations.
- Educating and administration of medications such as albuterol, ceftriaxone or Decadron.
- Collecting and running in-house labs such as rapid Flu/RSV/Strep/COVID-19, rapid mono, urinalysis, and urine HCG’s
- Phlebotomy and ensuring specimens are prepared and labeled correctly for lab pick-up and processing.
- Traveling to satellite clinics on specific days as assigned.
- Providing coverage for other nursing staff and departments as needed.
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
