Job Title: Community Outreach Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Full-Time (35-40 Hours per week)
Compensation: Hourly rate dependent on experience ($17.00 to $24.00 range)
Summary: The Community Outreach Coordinator is a new position created as Meals on Wheels moves into a greater partnership phase in Columbia. We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference in the lives of others while using their excellent networking and communication skills. We are a positive team striving to make our clients' lives better through a delivery of a hot daily meal and a friendly visit!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform duties listed below satisfactorily. Desired characteristics of this individual are strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. Applicant will be required to pass a background check.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Develops relationships in the community which helps MOW expand its mission by attending networking or senior focused community groups.
- Develop and implements client recruitment outreach strategies
- Plans and writes monthly donor newsletters; coordinates agency communications ensuring marketing materials are updated and ready to be used.
- Plans and writes monthly client newsletters.
- Attends resource fairs in order to recruit client and volunteers.
- Leads and assists with volunteer acknowledgement activities
- Helps with fundraiser, Big Wheels, by soliciting for sponsorships and sales.
- Seeks sponsorships for various activities or events.
- Writes grants in conjunction with the Executive Director
- Logs donations into donor database, sends thank you notes to donors.
- Prepares donations for bank deposits.
- In conjunction with the Client Coordinator, deliver first meals to new clients to represent agency and also retrieve proper paperwork.
- In conjunction with the Executive Director, greet volunteers at CCUA and help them begin their deliveries.
- Assists with social media.
- Be cross-trained in other aspects of the agency including delivering to clients when needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications\Skills:
- Demonstrate excellent computer skills with an understanding of Google Docs, Canva, and Microsoft Word. Ability to learn new software.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to network and make connections in the community and positively represent Meals on Wheels.
- Able to accurately enter information in a donor database.
- Able to plan special events
- Commit to work at all times to keep the image of MOW positive to the public
- Able to switch from social facing roles to detailed work at a computer.
- Demonstrate and support a positive attitude and engage in respectful interactions with others
- Must be adaptable to changes.
- Must act in accordance with our principles of maintaining confidentiality and discretion in conversations regarding personal information
- Able to follow through on commitments and deadlines necessary to maintain a positive working environment
- Commitment to building trust and confidence in the work environment
- Have a Valid Driver’s License and dependable transportation to assist with delivery

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing to volunteers and other employees. The employee may be required to pack delivery bags, lift/move delivery bags full of meals for delivery, and navigate delivery of meals in our delivery area.
Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
