We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced dermatology practice. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and thrives in a high-volume clinical environment while delivering exceptional patient care. This role requires excellent multitasking skills, strong communication, and the ability to work efficiently with providers to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the day.
Hours: Full time ; Monday-Friday 7:45 AM-5:00 PM; Saturday 8:00AM-12:30 PM
Essential Responsibilities Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients for examinations and dermatologic procedures by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and chief complaints.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology procedures.
- Set up and maintain sterile instruments and procedure rooms.
- Perform specimen collection, labeling, and preparation for laboratory testing.
- Administer medications, injections, and topical treatments as directed by the provider and within scope of practice.
- Perform wound care and provide post-procedure instructions to patients.
- Remove/change dressings, and assist with biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and other dermatologic procedures.
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Clean, disinfect, and restock exam rooms and procedure areas.
Patient Care
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, wound care, and follow-up instructions.
- Answer patient questions professionally and direct clinical concerns to the provider when appropriate.
- Ensure patient comfort while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist in managing patient flow to minimize wait times and maximize efficiency.
Administrative Duties
- Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up visits.
- Process prescription refill requests and prior authorizations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Verify patient information and assist with referrals when needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dermatology preferred but not required
- Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
