Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role involves providing essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient care, possess relevant experience, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in various settings including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community care environments.
Duties
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient monitoring and observation to ensure safety and well-being.
- Administer medications as per care plans and assist with vital signs monitoring.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and personal development.
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces and assist with household tasks including cooking and cleaning.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Support individuals with mobility challenges using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Foster a supportive environment for clients with conditions such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, or autism through compassionate caregiving.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experiences:
- Previous experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or special needs is essential.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR is highly desirable.
- Experience in patient care roles including nursing or social work is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the needs of clients.
