Job Summary
We are a small microschool in Miami, FL seeking a caring and reliable Teacher's Aide to support our classroom environment and assist in the educational development of students. Our classrooms are small with a max teacher to student ratio of 1:6. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and open to training on teaching strategies for kids with special needs. They should feel comfortable and able to teach a small group of 4 or 5 students individually without supervision. This role involves collaborating with teachers to create a nurturing and effective learning atmosphere, particularly for students with diverse needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
- Support students in literacy, math and/or science education, fostering their academic growth.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Provide individualized support to students, including those with special needs or disabilities.
- Engage in curriculum development to enhance educational experiences.
- Oversee students' safety and well being during biweekly community learning field trips and/or parties and special events.
- Participate in classroom management tasks, ensuring safety and organization.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom space conducive to learning.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is essential.
- Experience teaching or tutoring children in Elementary level, preferably students with special needs.
- Familiarity with special education practices and behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Previous experience in school environments or Montessori settings is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in tutoring or teaching is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when necessary.
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or other disabilities is a plus.
