This position reports to the Accounting Supervisor and plays a key role within the Accounting Department by performing a variety of accounting and financial reporting tasks while supporting overall financial accuracy, internal controls, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities may range from standard accounting functions to more complex reconciliations, reporting, and compliance activities depending on experience level and departmental needs.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to support business objectives and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries

Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accounts

Prepare and record accounts payable transactions in compliance with accounting policies

Prepare and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations
-
Assist with fixed asset maintenance and depreciation schedules

Support the preparation for internal and external audits

Manage the processing, reporting, and maintenance of Unclaimed Property in accordance with state regulations
-
Maintain and update vendor files to ensure current and accurate records
-
Participate in process improvement initiatives and internal control enhancement efforts

Identify discrepancies, process gaps, or operational inefficiencies and escalate issues appropriately

Communicate effectively across departments to resolve accounting-related issues and improve workflow

Perform additional accounting duties, projects, and special assignments as directed
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field required

2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or insurance industry setting

Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles

Proficient in Microsoft excel and other Microsoft applications
-
Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting processes
-
Property/Casualty insurance industry experience is a plus
