We’re looking for a creative, collaborative educator to teach two sections of music or performing arts. We use “music” broadly and welcome applicants with experience in one or more areas such as choir, theater, musical theater, orchestra, instrumental ensembles, contemporary music, garage bands, songwriting, music production, or related performing arts.
Our previous music program followed a contemporary, garage-band-style model, with students collaborating in small groups to select, arrange, rehearse, and perform music. We welcome candidates who could build on that foundation or develop a different approach based on their strengths, student interests, and available school resources.
We do not expect one person to bring expertise in every area. We’re excited to shape the program around the experience, talents, and passions of the right candidate.

What You'll Do
As a member of our teaching team, you will:
- Teach two sections of music or performing arts.
- Design an engaging program that reflects your expertise and responds to student interests.
- Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for students with a wide range of experience levels.
- Design hands-on, student-centered lessons that give students opportunities to create, perform, collaborate, and develop their artistic voices.
- Plan performances, productions, showcases, or other culminating experiences appropriate to the program.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Build positive relationships with students and families.
- Collaborate with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities, CREW, and ongoing professional development.
- Use assessment information to guide instruction and support student growth.
- Implement IEPs and Section 504 plans with fidelity.
- Help create a school culture where every student feels they belong.

Qualifications
We're looking for someone who:
- Holds a current Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements.

Position Details
- Position: 0.4 FTE
- Teaching Assignment: Two classes and one prep
- Regular Teacher Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (will be adjusted for two classes and one prep)
- School Year: 2026-2027
- Location: Innovation High School, Spokane, WA
- Several evening events throughout the year with advance notice, including several evening performances.
Benefits
- DRS - The position is eligible for participation in the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Paid leave will be provided in accordance with applicable law and school policy.
- SEBB - This position is not eligible for benefits through the Washington School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) because it is scheduled for fewer than 630 hours during the school year.
