The Katherine Thomas School in Rockville, MD has an immediate opening for a full-time IEP Coordinator/School Support Specialist for the high school program. The Katherine Thomas High School is a private special education school that services students with language, learning, sensory motor disabilities, and autism. EOE

This position is responsible for:

Overseeing the development and the coordination of the IEP/DPG for students grades 9-12

Liaising with funding sources and parents, scheduling and participating in formal IEP and related meetings,
-
Providing training, monitoring and guidance to staff on developing, writing, implementing, documenting and recording the IEP/DPG

Serving as a key role by collaborating with Local Education Agency representatives during the IEP process
-
Implementing relevant staff development
Salary range is $80,000 - $100,000 for a 12-month contract, depending on education and experience
Experience and Skills:
Requirements for the School Support Specialist:

Must have a valid teaching certificate in special education, preferable a master's degree, and 3 years of teaching experience

Experience with a variety of formal and informal assessment measures and excellent analysis and interpretation skills to assist staff with translating test results into measurable educational goals and objectives

Outstanding organization and written expression abilities are essential

Effective interpersonal and communication skills are also necessary
