Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and organized professional to support individuals with Autism in achieving greater independence and meaningful community engagement. This role combines direct support, staff mentorship, program coordination, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the highest quality services for individuals participating in our day habilitation programs.
The successful candidate will utilize the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to support skill development, promote community inclusion, and assist individuals in reaching their personal goals while maintaining a safe, structured, and enriching environment.
Responsibilities
- Observe DSPs interacting with people supported in all settings and coach/mentor for positive results
- Assist the Day-Hab manager and the Assistant Day-Hab manager with implementation and enforcement of all policies and procedures
- Initiates and creates community outings, daily program activities and schedules
- Provides instruction in ratio for skill acquisition in all domains necessary for quality of life including domestic living skills, vocational skills, leisure skills, safety, social skills and community navigation.
- Models appropriate behaviors necessary for successful adjustment and immersion into community participation and living.
- Ensure the physical location is free of risk inside and out; report issues for repair or redesign as needed
- Assist the manager and/or assistant manager in overseeing the Medication Administration Record for accuracy and errors at the day program
- Assist in tracking and reporting unusual incidents and provide assistance to all DSP’s
- Complete and ensure accuracy of all required documentations (e.g. Incident reports and investigations, individual support plans, behavior logs, service entries, MARs, fire drill forms, physical plant safety checklist etc.)
- Ensure vehicle documentation and maintenance are up to date
- Encourages individuals served to participate in community activities
- Is innovative and creative to create novel activities and programs for all participants
- Empowers parents / guardians and community members in their roles to support individuals served
- Implements Individual & Behavior Support Plans with integrity
- Monitors the health and safety of individuals served. Includes providing appropriate supervision
- Provides feedback to direct support staff or ABA Instructors as needed
- Assists across programs as needed (Community Center in Franklin Lakes, Oakland Day-Hab)
- Reports Unusual Incidents in accordance with policy and procedure
- Records client progress and maintain records of services performed
- Provides transportation to and from program sites
- Follows all protocols, program and schedules as indicated by the Clinical Team
- Administers medications as needed
- Assist program manager and assistant manager with administrative duties
- Assist with staff scheduling and finding appropriate coverage
- Participate in ISP & IDT meeting when necessary
- All other duties as assigned.
- All employees are required to cooperate with the licensee and Departmentstaff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation.
Experience
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required (must be renewed annually).
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record that meets the organization's driving policy requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and/or Autism field preferred.
Pay: $21.75 - $22.75 per hour
