Dental Assistant – Lehighton Family Dentistry
Lehighton Family Dentistry is currently seeking a motivated, dependable, and friendly Dental Assistant to join our team.
As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with our dentists and clinical team to provide excellent patient care and help keep the office running efficiently. We are looking for someone who is professional, organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and committed to making patients feel welcome and at ease.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and properly set up instruments and materials
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatories according to infection-control standards
- Take and process dental X-rays
- Review and update patient medical histories
- Prepare patients for treatment and explain procedures when appropriate
- Assist with restorative procedures, crowns, extractions, root canals, impressions, and other general dentistry procedures
- Take impressions and perform other permitted expanded assisting duties based on qualifications
- Maintain adequate inventory of dental supplies and notify appropriate staff when supplies need to be ordered
- Keep treatment rooms clean, organized, and properly stocked
- Accurately document clinical information in patient charts
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection-control, and office safety procedures
- Work cooperatively with doctors, hygienists, front desk staff, and other team members
- Help provide patients with a positive and comfortable dental experience
Qualifications
- Dental assisting experience preferred
- Previous experience in a dental office is a plus
- Dental X-ray certification preferred where applicable
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments preferred
- Basic computer skills required
- Experience with dental practice-management or imaging software is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment
- Dependable, punctual, professional, and willing to learn
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care
