Position Overview
We are looking for an Operations Manager to help lead daily production across our landscape operations. This role will work closely with the Owner/CEO, crew leads, foremen, and account management team to keep work organized, profitable, safe, and completed to a high standard.
The Operations Manager will help reduce owner dependence by taking ownership of scheduling coordination, field communication, production follow-through, quality control, and team accountability.
Compensation
- Base salary: $60,000–$75,000 per year
- Quarterly performance commission: 2% of company sales for each quarter in which finalized company profitability is between 15% and 25%, according to the company’s finalized compensation plan
- Full-time position
- Paid holidays after 90 days
- One week of paid vacation after 90 days for eligible full-time management employees
- Biweekly direct deposit
Actual commission earnings depend on finalized company sales, profitability, and the approved compensation plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily operations across Maintenance, Design/Build, Turf, Irrigation, and Snow
- Help crews start each day with clear priorities, materials, equipment, and expectations
- Monitor job progress, schedule issues, labor hours, quality, and customer commitments
- Support crew leads and foremen with coaching, problem-solving, and accountability
- Identify delays, missing information, equipment issues, and production risks early
- Complete or coordinate jobsite quality checks
- Help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to scope
- Communicate schedule changes and operational issues to the Owner/CEO and appropriate team members
- Support seasonal planning for maintenance, irrigation, turf, design/build, and snow operations
- Track basic operating numbers, including labor performance, revenue per labor hour, gross profit, schedule reliability, and rework
- Help build stronger systems so the company can grow without every decision going through the owner

- Crews know where they need to be, what they need to do, and what success looks like
- Schedule problems are identified before they become customer problems
- Jobs are completed with fewer return trips, missed details, and communication breakdowns
- Crew leads and foremen receive consistent coaching and support
- Field production improves while quality and safety remain strong
- Mitchell has fewer daily operational decisions routed directly through him
Qualifications
- Experience managing landscape, construction, maintenance, field service, or similar operations
- Experience leading crews, foremen, or field teams
- Strong organization and follow-through
- Ability to make practical decisions in a changing field environment
- Comfort holding people accountable while treating people with respect
- Good communication with field employees, customers, and company leadership
- Ability to read schedules, track labor hours, and follow job budgets
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to work outdoors and visit active jobsites
- Experience with LMN, Jobber, Whip Around, or similar systems is helpful but not required
Ideal Working Style
You are dependable, calm under pressure, and comfortable moving between the office, jobsites, crews, and customers.
You do not wait for small problems to become emergencies. You communicate clearly, keep commitments visible, and help people improve without creating unnecessary drama.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, with occasional seasonal or weather-related schedule adjustments. Some early mornings, customer meetings, or urgent operational needs may be required during peak season.
