Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated full-time, 1.0 FTE variable position knowledgeable Dietitian I or II to join our healthcare team at our Ketchikan, Alaska location. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in nutrition and dietetics, with experience in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical nutrition management. As a vital member of our healthcare facility, you will provide expert nutritional guidance, develop individualized care plans, and support patient recovery across various settings including acute care, long-term care, and geriatrics. Your role will be instrumental in promoting health and wellness through evidence-based dietary interventions.
The salary range for the Dietitian I/or II is $38.64-$57.96 depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine nutritional needs and develop personalized care plans.
- Provide expert nutrition counseling, including weight management, disease-specific diets, and lifestyle modifications.
- Coordinate with medical teams to evaluate diagnostic results and adjust nutrition strategies accordingly.
- Manage tube feeding protocols and oversee nutritional support for patients with complex medical conditions.
- Implement health coaching techniques to motivate patients towards healthier behaviors and improved outcomes.
- Supervise dietary department staff, ensuring adherence to standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems to document assessments, interventions, and progress notes accurately.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in hospital or long-term care environments to optimize patient care.
- Stay current with advances in physiology, nutrition science, and clinical practices relevant to diverse patient populations including geriatrics and acute care.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a dietitian in hospital or long-term care settings is essential.
- Demonstrated supervising experience within dietary or healthcare teams is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to digestion, metabolism, and disease processes affecting nutrition.
- Proven ability to develop and implement dietary care plans for various conditions such as weight loss or chronic illnesses.
- Familiarity with EMR systems used for documenting patient information and treatment plans.
- Experience managing dietary needs for patients requiring tube feeding or specialized nutritional support.
