JOB SUMMARY :
Perform a variety of unskilled tasks, such as sweeping and washing floors, keeping refrigerators and storerooms clean and in neat order. Daily cleaning of serving end of the steam table, carts, and
food service equipment. Work may be required in the dishwashing area or in the food service area. Perform food preparation tasks as assigned by the cook, or assists in tray service, portioning, and assembling of cold foods as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adequate performance of duties assigned such as careful and sanitary handling of dishes, equipment, and food. Cleanliness of assigned work area and will work under close supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Employee must be able to read, write, speak, and follows oral and written directions. Usually is given continuing on-the-job instruction. They must know how to clean various surfaces and equipment. They should have some knowledge and ability in handling equipment and simple food preparation tasks.
RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
May be responsible for sanitation of kitchen work areas and equipment, wash dishes and or pots and pans, and may assist in food preparation and services of food to resident's and personnel.
WORKING ENVIROMENT:
Employee will work in clean, well-lighted, well ventilated kitchen. They should be able to with stand heat while working around stoves and or oven and changes in temperatures when going in and out of refrigerated or deep freeze areas. They must be aware of the dangers of cuts and burns while working with kitchen equipment and of falls or sprains due to wet and slippery floors.
WORK PERFORMED:
Specific types of work performed are as follows:
- Prepares desserts, fruits as directed by the cook, and serves on the tray line.
- Set the cold end of the steam table up for service; such as preparing the drinks the resident's at meal time.
- Assist the cooks as directed to open can food items, assist putting away stock items.
- Washes dishes for the dining room and room trays after each meal. Employees clean the dish room after each use.
- Performs any kitchen related duty as assigned by the Certified Dietary Manager and/or her designee.
