Schedule Information
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 12-hour night shifts
- Schedule based on facility needs
Postpartum RN Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Minimum of 1–2 years of recent postpartum, mother-baby, or comparable women’s services nursing experience required
- Strong knowledge of maternal and newborn care practices
- Ability to perform comprehensive maternal and newborn assessments
- Experience administering medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to recognize changes in patient or newborn conditions
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care
Equipment Used
- Maternal and newborn monitoring equipment
- IV pumps
- Infant-care and warming equipment
- Electronic medical records (EMR)
- Standard postpartum nursing equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to postpartum patients and newborns according to physician orders and facility protocols
- Complete maternal and newborn assessments and monitor recovery following delivery
- Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions as needed
- Support mothers with feeding, newborn care, and postpartum recovery needs
- Educate patients and families regarding postpartum recovery, infant care, and safety practices
- Monitor patient and newborn conditions and communicate changes to physicians and healthcare team members
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records
- Assist with patient positioning, mobility, and other physical care needs
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to provide quality patient care
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and compassionate environment for patients and newborns
- Perform additional nursing duties as assigned
