The Role
We’re looking for a reliable, skilled Kitchen Lead to be the second-in-command in the kitchen to our GM. This is a hands-on position — you’ll be working the line every shift, keeping production running smoothly, and stepping up as the kitchen’s point person on days the GM is off. You don’t need to be a manager type. You need to be someone who does their job exceptionally well, knows the menu inside and out, and can give clear, calm guidance to junior staff only when it’s needed.
What You’ll Do:
Daily Production
- Execute all menu items, sweet and savory sandwiches, croissant fillings, and all stations, accurately and on time, every shift
- Ensure every item meets our quality standard: correct assembly, uniform cuts, clean presentation, and consistent taste
- Handle next-day prep including meat cutting, sandwich fillings, and jam making
Kitchen Leadership
- On GM’s days off, you are responsible for the kitchen, keeping production on pace, solving small problems on the spot (a missing ingredient, a sudden order), and keeping things moving without needing to escalate every decision
- Support junior kitchen staff with guidance and answers when the GM is not present
- Communicate with front-of-house on stock levels and any production changes needed during the shift
Sanitation & Compliance
- Keep your station and the kitchen clean throughout and after every shift
- Follow food safety and health department standards (HACCP) and make sure the team does the same
- Monitor equipment (refrigeration, fryers, slicers) and flag any issues to the GM
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years in a commercial kitchen or fast-paced food production environment
- Someone who can work independently and own their station, we expect full autonomy within two weeks
- Calm under pressure, solution-oriented, and easy to work with
- Punctual and dependable, early morning shifts are the norm here
- Valid Food Handler’s Card, or ability to obtain one before your start date
