Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:
Duties: MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II duties and responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
General Duties:
Individual will operate light and medium duty motor equipment such as pickup trucks, dump trucks with/without trailer, tractor with attachments, turf mowing equipment may be trained for operating heavier equipment.
Establish performance standards.
Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and departmental needs.
Specialty Areas May Include the Following Duties:
LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Individual will operate light and medium duty motor equipment such as pickup trucks, dump trucks with/without trailer, tractor with attachments, turf mowing equipment -Maybe trained Assist crews engaged in landscape maintenance and construction, mowing, fertilizing, seeding, and sod installation.
Establish performance standards.
Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by these duties described or less.
Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and departmental needs.
Perform installation of asphalt and concrete.
Able to lead and operate independently while performing concrete and asphalt installations and repairs.
This position has ALPHA I status and the individual will be required to work during emergencies and periods of inclement weather to perform vital services to ensure equipment is operational during snow removal, storm damage cleanup, and other activities related to emergency response.
Individual will furnish and wear steel-toed safety boots.
NOTE: All positions require a Class A Commercial Driver’s License or must obtain within six (6) months of hire.
CDL Hiring Bonus - Newly hired employees with valid Class A CDL will be eligible for a $4,000 hiring bonus paid in three increments during the first year of employment:
$1,000 with first paycheck
$1,000 first pay period following six-month interim eval (with “meets expectation" performance rating)
$2,000 at conclusion of probationary period (with "meets expectation performance rating)

- Experience in motor equipment operation (backhoe/loader/tractors/grapple truck/bucket truck
- Experience loading and transporting equipment by truck and trailer
- Experience in grounds, athletic field, and turf maintenance
- Experience in asphalt and concrete installation
- Experience with sinkhole repair and storm drain maintenance
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: Requires completion of the tenth grade, plus two (2) years experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, such as motor equipment operation; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a current and valid driver’s license. Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. May require a Commercial Drivers license. This position may require that incumbents wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk. Specific requirements will be determined and communicated by the employee’s supervisor based on position assigned. This is position may be designated as a safety sensitive position and be subject to mandatory drug testing and annual exams. Positive drug test results may result in counseling and/or discipline, up to and including, termination.
