The Estimating & Customer Relations Coordinator is responsible for preparing customer quotations, managing customer communication, and supporting production through efficient scheduling and coordination. This position serves as a key link between customers and the production team, ensuring projects move efficiently from inquiry through delivery while maintaining quality, profitability, and exceptional customer service.
Primary Responsibilities
Estimating & Quoting
- Review customer drawings, prints, and RFQs.
- Calculate material, machining, laser cutting, welding, finishing, and outside processing costs.
- Prepare accurate and timely customer quotations.
- Work with management to determine pricing strategies and maintain target profit margins.
- Follow up on outstanding quotations.
- Maintain quote history and quote conversion records.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability through smarter sourcing and estimating.
Customer Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries.
- Provide quote updates, order status, and delivery information.
- Coordinate engineering or technical questions with production personnel.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
- Build long-term relationships with customers through outstanding service.
- Communicate schedule changes and delivery expectations clearly.
Production Support
- Coordinate incoming materials with production schedules.
- Assist with scheduling priorities to keep projects moving.
- Communicate material shortages before they impact production.
- Work closely with laser, machining, welding, assembly, and shipping departments.
- Help identify process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate purchasing, quoting, and customer records.
- Create and manage purchase orders, quotes, work orders, and customer information within Fulcrum ERP.
- Maintain vendor pricing and sourcing information.
- Generate reports for management.
- Assist with continuous process improvement and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing purchasing, estimating, customer service, or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining, laser cutting, welding, and metal fabrication processes.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a job shop or contract manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of metals pricing and supply chain management.
- Experience using Fulcrum ERP or the ability to quickly learn manufacturing ERP systems.
- Understanding of machining, laser cutting, welding, and fabrication costs.
- APICS or purchasing certification (preferred but not required).

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
