Position Summary/ Department Summary:
Research Assistant II and Lab Manager for the Laboratory of Joseph Majzoub, MD, Division of Endocrinology, Department of Pediatrics, Boston Children’s Hospital.
Key Responsibilities:-
Maintain multiple mouse colonies including breeding, genotyping, with accurate records. This is one of the most important roles

Maintain records of experimental methodologies and results in a log of work performed (Lab Archives online notebook).

Work with PI and independently to design and perform experiments

Perform a variety of routine laboratory experiments and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment, recording and analyzing outcomes for completeness and accuracy.

Mouse necropsy and tissue processing

Mouse tissue histological analysis using light microscopy, immunofluorescence, RNA in situ hybridization (RNAscope)

ELISA, RIA, qRTPCR

Cell culture ideal but not required

Maintain equipment, lab area and supplies in a neat manner.

Process orders for supplies and animals

Assist PI to write and amend animal protocols

Collaborate with other members of the Majzoub lab and with other laboratories in the Endocrinology department
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, or related field
Experience:-
At least 1 year experience managing laboratory mouse colonies

Preferred experience with PCR, ELISA, RIA, immunocytochemistry, RNAscope

Good problem-solving skills and independent work ability

Excellent organizational and communication skills
