We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and detail-oriented Kitchen Prep Assistant to join our growing team in Summerville, SC.
This is a flexible, event-based position with excellent potential to transition into consistent part-time hours as our operations continue to expand. In this role, you will be a vital part of our back-of-house operations, ensuring our fresh ingredients are perfectly prepared and our kitchen environment remains immaculate. Key Responsibilities
Culinary Prep Work: Execute essential kitchen prep tasks including washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, and portioning high-quality ingredients according to chef specifications.
Basic Cooking & Execution: Assist with basic cooking tasks, heating, assembly, and mixing of menu items as directed by the culinary lead.
Station Sanitation: Clean and sanitize your designated work station, tools, and cutting boards continuously throughout your shift.
Policy & Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all kitchen policies, local health department guidelines, food safety protocols, and safe knife-handling practices.
Inventory & Organization: Assist in organizing walk-in coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas, ensuring ingredients are properly labeled and rotated (FIFO).
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Location/Reliability: Must have dependable transportation to our kitchen or event locations in the Summerville/Lowcountry area and strict adherence to schedules.
Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds frequently (moving ingredient crates, pots, and supplies) and stand or walk for long periods of time in a kitchen environment.
Culinary Basics: Prior experience with kitchen prep, knife skills (dicing, chopping, julienning), and basic cooking techniques is highly preferred.
Core Soft Skills: Must be flexible, a quick thinker, a natural problem solver, and capable of working efficiently under tight event timelines.
Composure & Discipline: A level-headed demeanor is required. You must be able to stay perfectly calm, focused, and organized under the pressure of a live event kitchen.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
