Overview
As a Conventional Machinist with a minimum of 5 years experience, join our dynamic manufacturing team and become a vital contributor to precision machining operations. In this role, you will operate and set up traditional machining equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders to produce high-quality metal and plastic components. Your expertise will ensure that parts meet strict specifications, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and attention to detail. Responsibilities
- Operate conventional machining tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce precision parts.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate manufacturing.
- Set up machines by installing tooling, adjusting speeds and feeds, and verifying calibrations using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling to complete machining tasks efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly processes involving plastics injection molding or welding when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspections completed, and quality checks using basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Conventional Machinist or similar role with hands-on knowledge of machining processes.
- Strong ability to read blueprints and technical drawings with an understanding of GD&T principles.
- Proficiency in operating manual machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and related equipment.
- Familiarity with CNC programming concepts; experience with CAM programming is a plus but not mandatory.
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of tooling selection, setup procedures, and troubleshooting machine issues.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges for quality assurance.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during machining operations.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to machine operation and manufacturing environments.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials using forklifts or other power tools when required; willingness to adhere to lean manufacturing practices.
