About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Technician to join our robotics team. You will be responsible for assembling robotic systems and subassemblies, installing mechanical and electrical components, and performing wiring, soldering, and crimping work.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, troubleshooting hardware, and turning engineering designs into working robotic systems.
Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components and subassemblies for robotic systems.
- Install motors, gearboxes, bearings, brackets, sensors, cameras, and other hardware.
- Assemble parts according to engineering drawings, CAD models, and work instructions.
- Perform wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and terminal installation.
- Perform soldering of wires, connectors, and electronic components.
- Build and route cable harnesses.
- Install and connect electrical components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, soldering equipment, and basic measurement tools.
- Inspect assemblies for quality, alignment, and proper installation.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical assembly issues.
- Support prototype builds, testing, repairs, and field deployments.
- Provide feedback to engineers on assembly and design improvements.
- Maintain an organized and safe work area.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly.
- Experience with soldering and wire crimping.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and assembly instructions.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to use basic measurement tools such as calipers and torque wrenches.
- Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced prototype/robotics environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience assembling robots, automation equipment, or electromechanical systems.
- Experience with cable harnesses and connectors such as Molex, JST, Micro-Fit, M12, or similar.
- Experience with soldering stations and crimping tools.
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring and schematics.
- Experience working from SolidWorks drawings or 3D CAD models.
- CNC machining, 3D printing, or basic fabrication experience.
- Experience with testing and troubleshooting robotic systems.
