Position Summary:
The Portuguese Interpreter is responsible for providing in-person and remote interpreting services. The successful candidate should be fluent in English and Portuguese. Training on interpreting skills will be provided by House of Languages. This is a per-diem position. A part or full time job might be available for an outstanding candidate.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person and remote consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation in a variety of settings
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
- Travel to interpreting assignments in Cumberland, York and Androscoggin counties
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
- Honesty, integrity, and reliability
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Must pass a background check.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- High School degree or higher
- Medical or court interpreter training or certification
- Knowledge of medical or legal terminology
