Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing using various systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, and other payroll software supported by the organization.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and tax regulations related to payroll and labor law.
- Reconcile payroll data through account reconciliation procedures, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
- Administer employee benefits programs and process related transactions within HRIS platforms.
- Prepare detailed reports on payroll activities, tax filings, and labor law compliance for internal review and audit purposes.
- Collaborate with accounting teams on general ledger accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and governmental accounting requirements.
- Maintain meticulous records of time & attendance data using Kronos or similar systems; verify accuracy for payroll processing.
- Support benefits administration initiatives and assist with non-profit or governmental accounting tasks as needed.
- Perform data entry with precision, ensuring all payroll information is current and correctly entered into relevant financial software.
- Stay informed about updates in tax law, payroll regulations, and financial concepts to ensure ongoing compliance and efficiency.
Experience
- Proven experience in payroll management within a corporate accounting environment or similar setting.
- Extensive knowledge of payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex, UltiPro, Kronos, PeopleSoft or Ceridian supported by technical expertise in payroll processing.
- Strong understanding of employment & labor law, tax law, and labor law compliance related to payroll operations.
- Demonstrated skills in accounting software including QuickBooks or equivalent financial tools; experience with governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus.
- Proficiency in analysis skills for account reconciliation, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, debits & credits, bookkeeping practices including double entry bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with time & attendance systems and benefits administration processes.
- Excellent data entry skills (10 key typing) combined with attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
- Background in human resources functions related to payroll processing and benefits support preferred.
