About Solar Medics
Thousands of homeowners have been left stranded by solar installers that went out of business — dead inverters, failing panels, systems producing nothing while the loan payments keep coming. Solar Medics is the company they call to get back online. We handle the marketing, the customer pipeline, the proposals, and the closing. You handle the wrench.
We are building a network of skilled, independent solar repair technicians who want steady, well-paying repair work without doing any selling, advertising, or paperwork chasing.
The Role
As an independent subcontractor, you'll accept on-call dispatches in your service area for residential solar inspections, diagnostics, and repairs. A typical job flows like this:
- Greet the customer professionally and represent the Solar Medics brand on site.
- Inspect and diagnose the system issue (rooftop and ground-level: inverters, optimizers, panels, wiring, connectors, monitoring).
- Identify the fix — components, materials, and labor required.
- Report your findings to your Solar Medics contact from the field. We design the proposal, price the job, and close the customer over the phone while the visit is fresh.
- Complete the repair — simple fixes can often be done same-visit; larger repairs are scheduled at your earliest convenience.
You choose which dispatches to accept. More availability means more jobs.
What You Must Bring
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair residential solar PV systems (string inverters, microinverters, optimizers, panel-level faults, wiring/connector issues, monitoring re-commissioning)
- Comfortable and safe working on roofs; own fall-protection gear
- Your own reliable vehicle, ladders, and hand/power tools
- Ability to source and purchase repair components on your own accounts/line of credit with suppliers (reimbursed through job payment; pay advances may be granted for qualifying jobs)
- Professional appearance and customer-facing communication skills — you are the face of Solar Medics at the door
- Smartphone with ability to photograph, document, and communicate findings from the field
- General liability insurance (or willingness to obtain); valid driver's license
Preferred (Not Required)
- Electrical license or work under a licensed electrician
- NABCEP certification or equivalent solar credential
- Experience with major brands: Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA, Generac, Tesla, Fronius
- Prior work with a solar installer, service company, or as an electrician/roofer with solar experience
Compensation & How It Works
- Per-job pay agreed before you roll — no commission games, no chargebacks for sales outcomes
- Materials reimbursed; advances available for qualifying larger jobs
- Volume grows with our customer pipeline — early techs get territory priority as we scale
- Paid promptly upon job completion and documentation
