Previous experience with a shelter, knowledge about domestic and sexual abuse, and previous experience engaging in trauma informed care desired.
POSITION SUMMARY: Position averages 16 hours/wk and is comprised of regular weekend shifts - 2nd shift (3p - 11p) every other weekend on Saturday & Sunday; 3rd shift (11 p - 7a can sleep) in one of the alternating weeks. One weekend off in a 4 week rotation. Additionally a 2nd shift two Fridays out of four.
This position performs a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to providing emotional support and info/referral services to shelter residents and their children, answering crisis calls, and managing community living challenges that arise. Population served are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or human trafficking, and their children.
WORK HOURS: We are seeking individuals to work in person at our shelter. Open shifts are weekend 2nd & 3rd shift. There is the possibility to pick up more during the week.
High school diploma and one year of experience in crisis/social service agency preferred. Some knowledge about domestic and sexual abuse. Bachelor of Science preferred.
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication and organizational skills; cultural sensitivity and ability to interact with various publics; excellent interpersonal skills; must demonstrate professionalism with sound judgment and a high degree of responsibility, particularly as it relates to confidentiality. Reliable automobile with insurance and valid driver’s license required.
