Position Summary
The Survey Technician is responsible for translating digital designs into physical reality. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in geospatial equipment, 3D modeling proficiency, and proactive communication to ensure construction projects are executed with pinpoint accuracy.
Main Areas of Responsibility
- Exemplary Customer Service: Provide proactive and professional service to all stakeholders, including project managers, field crews, and clients, ensuring their technical needs are met promptly.
- Relationship Management: Act as a bridge between the office and the field, building and growing strong relationships with internal departments and external partners to ensure project alignment.
- Field Layout & Precision: Provide high-accuracy layout work on jobsites utilizing Robotic Total Stations (RTS) and GPS equipment. Verify benchmarks and maintain control points throughout the project lifecycle.
- Technical Documentation: Assist with the creation of Spooling and Installation drawings, ensuring that mechanical and structural components are accurately represented for fabrication and field placement.
- Operational Support: Perform other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the project team and the company’s growth.
Essential Functions and Job Duties
- Ownership & Aptitude: Demonstrate high mechanical aptitude and a willingness to take full ownership of tasks, from initial equipment calibration to final as-built documentation.
- Communication: Utilize successful verbal and written communication skills to report discrepancies in the field and provide status updates to leadership.
- Time Management: Maintain the ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for the daily care, cleaning, and routine calibration of sensitive survey instruments.
- Data Integration: Download and upload field data to various software platforms, ensuring seamless integration between field measurements and office design files.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience with Trimble, Topcon, or Leica RTS and GPS systems preferred.
- Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or specialized modeling software is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate rugged construction terrain, carry equipment up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.
- Licensing: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
