Position Summary
The Shift Lead is a key member of the Mary Alice leadership team, responsible for leading the sales floor, supporting budtenders, driving sales, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
This role serves as a leader on the floor and acts as the person in charge when management is not present, particularly during opening and closing shifts. The ideal candidate is passionate about cannabis, confident leading a team, and committed to delivering a professional, welcoming, and elevated customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the sales team during assigned shifts while serving as the primary point of contact for budtenders.
- Drive team sales goals while maintaining strong personal sales performance.
- Coach and motivate team members on product knowledge, customer discovery, sales techniques, and customer engagement.
- Lead by example by providing knowledgeable, personalized, and exceptional customer service.
- Handle escalated customer concerns professionally and effectively.
- Act as the person in charge when management is not present and ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and register reconciliation.
- Ensure the sales floor is clean, organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
- Support inventory counts, restocking, product flow, and communication of inventory needs.
- Ensure all team members follow company policies, security procedures, and applicable cannabis regulations.
- Assist with training and onboarding new team members.
- Communicate important operational, inventory, customer, and team concerns to management.
- Help create a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous retail, sales, hospitality, or customer service experience required.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Cannabis industry experience is a plus, but not required.
- Genuine passion for cannabis and willingness to continuously learn about products and the industry.
- Strong communication, sales, and leadership skills.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
- Comfortable coaching team members and holding them accountable to company standards.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
