Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs and overall condition; report changes promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal consumption, ensuring dietary needs are met
- Use proper manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safety during mobility assistance
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and infection control practices
- Document patient observations, care provided, and any incidents accurately in compliance with facility policies
Skills
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or developmental disabilities is highly valued
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and hospice care enhances your ability to support residents effectively
- Familiarity with care plans, patient monitoring, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and first aid/CPR certification is essential
- Strong communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare teams in a respectful manner
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or other transfer methods
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is preferred
- Competence in assisting with specialized needs such as autism support or intellectual disabilities support ensures comprehensive care delivery
