Installation Technician
Pay: Starting at $18.00/hour
Move Over Outfitters is a veteran-owned company specializing in upfitting public safety and commercial emergency vehicles throughout Indiana and the surrounding region. We are looking for a motivated, dependable Installation Technician to join our growing team.
If you enjoy working with your hands, solving problems, and taking pride in quality workmanship, this could be the perfect opportunity. No previous emergency vehicle experience is required—we provide on-the-job training for the right candidate with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
As an Installation Technician, you'll help build and outfit police, fire, EMS, and commercial vehicles by installing emergency lighting, sirens, mobile radios, in-car camera systems, consoles, partitions, and other specialized emergency vehicle equipment. Every vehicle you work on plays an important role in helping first responders serve their communities safely and effectively.
Please Note: This is a hands-on automotive installation position performed in a shop environment. It is NOT an Information Technology (IT) or computer support role.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare vehicles for installation by disassembling and protecting interior components.
- Install emergency lighting, sirens, consoles, radios, in-car video systems, and other 12-volt accessories.
- Route and secure wiring while maintaining a clean, professional installation.
- Fabricate and install brackets, mounts, and other custom components as needed.
- Test, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and retrofit installed equipment.
- Document completed installations and maintain accurate work records.
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe.
- Work closely with fellow technicians to complete projects efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.

What We're Looking For:
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work inside vehicles for extended periods
- Ability to distinguish colors and identify sounds as required during installation and testing
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
- Experience with 12-volt electrical systems
- Vehicle accessory installation
- Automotive repair, fabrication, or maintenance
- Car audio installation
- Home security or low-voltage installation
- Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Optional overtime available
