The JCC of Greater Pittsburgh is seeking Inclusion Specialists for our Out of School time Clubhouse location.
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to problem solve and be flexible as groups/children need behavior/emotional/social support.
- Experience working with children ages 5-14 in an afterschool or recreational setting.
- Generates necessary reports and documentation as needed and/or required
- Communicates confidently with staff, not only for camper struggles/conflict, but strengths as well.
- Experience with, or willingness to receive training in Positive Behavior Support (PBS), de-escalation techniques, and strategies for supporting children’s behavioral, emotional and social needs.
Responsible to: Out of School Time Program Manager
Hours: 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday-Friday
Specific Responsibilities:
- Participates in pre-program planning, required staff training, professional development, and regular Clubhouse/inclusion meetings.
- Reviews relevant child and family information prior to the school year and collaborates with staff to proactively plan appropriate supports and accommodations while maintaining confidentiality.
- Engages with children, building relationships, observing group dynamics, modeling effective practices for staff, and communicating with families as appropriate.
- Supports children’s social, emotional, and behavioral needs in collaboration with Clubhouse leadership and staff, with particular attention to children who need additional support with transitions, peer interactions, emotional regulation, or adjustment to the program environment.
- Provides ongoing modeling, coaching, and training for staff in Positive Behavior Support (PBS), de-escalation, proactive behavior strategies, inclusive practices, and supporting neurodiverse children.
- Coaches and supports staff in implementing Clubhouse behavior-support practices, including positive reinforcement, logical consequences, de-escalation strategies, and individualized support plans.
- Collaborates regularly with Clubhouse leadership and staff to identify concerns, evaluate strategies, monitor progress, and adjust individual supports as needed.
- Document significant behavioral concerns, interventions, de-escalation efforts, and other relevant interactions according to Clubhouse procedures.
- Proactively plans with Clubhouse leadership and staff for accommodations, behavior supports, and staffing needs related to special programs, field trips, off-site activities, and changes to the regular schedule.
- Communicates and collaborates professionally with parents/guardians, school personnel, and other providers or agencies supporting children, when appropriate and authorized.
- Attends required meetings, trainings, planning, or special programs.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required. Required degree in dance or equivalent experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
While performing the above duties, this position routinely requires handling persons and/or objects and moving safely throughout the building. This position may include walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. This position requires communicating, either verbally or in writing. This position frequently requires moving items weighing up to 25 pounds. This position occasionally requires moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to complete all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
