Job Overview
We are seeking a kind, patient, and energetic Assistant Teacher to join our team as an assistant teacher on Fridays, and substitute on other days as needed. The position would start this fall at Parents Day Out inside the First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins. The ideal candidate will have experience and a background in early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a nurturing environment for young children ages 1-4. This coming fall our hours are 8:15-1:45pm. Our school year runs from Labor Day-Memorial Day Weekend, and we follow PSD for breaks, days off, and snow days. We will also have some training days in August. We offer a 75% discount for staff with young children when we have spots available. Responsibilities
- Promote learning through play and exploration.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment for all students, including those from all cultural and spiritual backgrounds.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively and patiently, while encouraging positive social interactions among children.
- Help the lead teacher assess and document student progress.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to support the overall development of each child.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education (15hrs of continuing ed. required per school year).
- Foster a love for learning by implementing creative and engaging activities that stimulate curiosity and engagement.
Skills
- Strong knowledge and experience in early childhood education principles and practices.
- Ability to implement effective lesson plans, tailored to different learning styles and abilities.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques that promote a positive learning environment.
- Experience in toddler care, ensuring the safety, nurturing, and well-being of all children in your care.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate and engage with students, parents, and fellow staff members (we work as a close-knit, loving group, who are all supportive of each other inside and outside of work).
- Ability to complete trainings on time, and arrive at work in a timely manner.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
