Assistant Teacher
Tiny Steps Learning Center – Union Ave Location, Paterson, NJ.
Pay: $16–$18 per hour, based on experience, education, credentials, and performance.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
Tiny Steps Learning Center is seeking a caring, reliable, and energetic Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms at our Union Ave location in Paterson, NJ.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with young children, works well as part of a team, and can help create a safe, clean, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.
The Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Lead Teacher to support daily routines, classroom activities, supervision, and children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Responsibilities:

Support the Lead Teacher with age-appropriate lessons and classroom activities.

Supervise children and help ensure their safety and well-being at all times.

Assist with daily routines, including meals, nap time, diapering, toileting, transitions, and classroom cleanup.

Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.

Encourage children’s development through positive guidance and interaction.

Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.

Communicate professionally with parents and team members.

Follow all Tiny Steps Learning Center policies and NJ childcare licensing requirements.
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Previous experience in a childcare, preschool, or early childhood setting preferred.

CDA or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.

Must meet NJ childcare clearance requirements, including background checks.

Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
