Position Summary
The Systems Specialist is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and supporting the organization’s IT systems, applications, and infrastructure. This role ensures system reliability, security, and performance while providing technical expertise to internal teams. The Systems Specialist works closely with IT, cybersecurity, operations, and business stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and support ongoing technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Administer and maintain IT systems, including servers, networks, applications, and cloud environments.

Monitor system performance and proactively identify issues, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems, escalating complex issues when necessary.

Support system upgrades, patches, and deployments, ensuring minimal downtime and strong change management practices.

Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across systems and applications.

Ensure system security by applying best practices, monitoring vulnerabilities, and supporting cybersecurity initiatives.

Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to support knowledge sharing.

Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand business needs and recommend technology solutions.

Assist with disaster recovery planning, backups, and system redundancy efforts.

Evaluate new technologies and contribute to system improvement roadmaps.
Work Environment

Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3 to 5 years of experience in systems administration, IT support, or infrastructure management.

Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS).

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).

Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).

Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and system hardening.

Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, HyperV).

Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
