About Stella
Stella of New Hope is a high-volume, full-service restaurant located along the Delaware River in the heart of New Hope, Pennsylvania. Our beverage program is an important part of the Stella experience, and we are seeking an experienced, thoughtful and hands-on Beverage Manager to lead it.
The ideal candidate combines strong beverage knowledge with exceptional leadership skills and sound business judgment. This is a highly visible management position for someone who enjoys developing people, creating memorable guest experiences, and balancing creativity with the operational and financial disciplines required to run a successful beverage program.
The Role
The Beverage Manager is responsible for the leadership and day-to-day management of Stella's beverage program and bar team. This includes beverage development, purchasing and inventory, cost management, staff education, service standards and active floor leadership.
As a member of Stella's management team, the Beverage Manager works collaboratively with restaurant leadership, culinary and events to support the overall operation and guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Program
- Lead and continually develop Stella's wine, spirits, beer and cocktail programs.
- Develop thoughtful seasonal cocktail and beverage offerings that complement Stella's food, concept and guest experience.
- Maintain appropriate product selection, pricing and menu accuracy.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with distributors, suppliers and beverage partners.
- Stay current on beverage trends while ensuring new products and ideas make sense for Stella's guests and business.
Financial & Inventory Management
- Manage beverage purchasing, receiving and inventory.
- Monitor beverage costs, product usage, pricing and profitability.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing waste, over-ordering and unnecessary product accumulation.
- Review beverage performance and identify opportunities to improve sales, cost control and profitability.
- Maintain accurate records and administrative systems related to the beverage program.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach and develop bartenders and other beverage team members.
- Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable to Stella's service and professional standards.
- Provide ongoing beverage education and training for both bar and service teams.
- Foster a professional, respectful and collaborative working environment.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately across all levels of the organization.
- Address performance and operational concerns promptly and professionally.
Operations & Guest Experience
- Maintain an active management presence during service, particularly during high-volume periods.
- Support the bar team while maintaining awareness of the overall restaurant operation.
- Ensure beverage execution, presentation and service consistently meet Stella's standards.
- Engage with guests and respond appropriately to feedback or service concerns.
- Work collaboratively with culinary, hospitality and events leadership to execute daily service, private events and special programming.
- Ensure compliance with Pennsylvania liquor laws, responsible alcohol service requirements, sanitation standards and company policies.
Management Responsibilities
- Participate as an engaged and accountable member of Stella's management team.
- Maintain professional communication and appropriate confidentiality regarding employees, guests and restaurant business.
- Complete scheduling, ordering, inventory and other administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
- Assist with restaurant management responsibilities as needed, including opening and closing duties.
- Identify problems, communicate them appropriately and participate in developing practical solutions.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hospitality experience, preferably in a high-volume, upscale or fine-dining restaurant environment.
- 2+ years of restaurant leadership or management experience.
- Previous responsibility for a beverage or bar program strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of wine, spirits, beer and cocktail development.
- Demonstrated understanding of beverage costing, purchasing, inventory and profitability.
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional judgment, discretion and communication skills.
- Ability to remain composed and effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative leadership style and willingness to work hands-on alongside the team.
- Aloha and OpenTable experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Schedule
This is a full-time, in-person management position. The Beverage Manager must be available to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the restaurant, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
Compensation
$65,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
