POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and welcoming YMCA facility for members, guests, staff, and the community. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, custodial duties, room setups, preventative maintenance, and facility inspections to ensure the branch always operates efficiently and in excellent working order and is a place for all.
Working under the direction of the Senior Facility Director, the Maintenance Technician supports the overall operation of the facility and may provide assistance at other YMCA locations as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform routine maintenance and repair of building systems, equipment, fixtures, and furnishings.

Complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general repair work.

Conduct routine facility inspections and identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.

Perform preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules.

Maintain a clean, safe, and attractive environment throughout the facility.

Clean restrooms, common areas, fitness spaces, offices, and program rooms.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and remove trash and recycling throughout the day.

Set up and break down rooms for programs, meetings, special events, and community activities.

Support YMCA risk management and safety initiatives.

Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.

Support the Senior Facility Director with facility projects and operational needs.

Provide maintenance and custodial support at other YMCA facilities as assigned.

Serve as a positive representative of the YMCA and support its mission and values.
REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum one to three years of facility maintenance, building maintenance, custodial, or related experience preferred.

Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical systems.

Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, power tools, and cleaning equipment.

Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIRIEMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors and safely use ladders, tools, cleaning equipment, and maintenance machinery.

Ability to work in a variety of climates and conditions, working both inside and outside.
