Responsibilities:

Patient Care and Communication
Apply the nursing process to deliver holistic, patient centered care
Partner with patients and families to develop and achieve care goals
Communicate clearly with the care team and advocate for appropriate care decisions
Maintain accurate, thorough documentation that supports continuity of care
Demonstrate critical thinking across clinical, social, safety, and psychosocial needs
Deliver compassionate care that enhances the patient experience
Clinical Leadership and Professional Practice
Lead and support team initiatives that enhance patient care and the work environment
Participate in shared governance and hospital wide councils
Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, assessment, and analytical skills
Relationship Based Care and Team Collaboration
Promote a healthy, respectful workplace culture
Build strong, collaborative relationships across the care team
Demonstrate cultural awareness and address workplace concerns appropriately
Balance priorities through effective delegation and time management
Quality Improvement and Evidence Based Practice
Identify and support opportunities to improve clinical quality and workplace practices
Incorporate evidence based practice into daily work
Participate in or lead initiatives that drive innovation and improve outcomes
Education and Professional Development
Precept and mentor students, graduate nurses, and new hires
Identify learning opportunities to improve care and team performance
Seek and apply feedback to support continuous improvement
Promote ongoing learning through education, research sharing, and unit-based development activities
Minimum 3 years of RN experience
BSN preferred
UPMC approved nursing certification required
Certification not required with MSN or DNP
Master’s in related field may substitute if BSN is held
Completion of one My Nursing Career Ladder contribution required
Current PA RN licensure or multistate license
BLS or CPR certification (AHA) required within 30 days

Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lead application of the nursing process
Meets or exceeds “Solid” performance rating to obtain and maintain role
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, lift, and position patients
Manual dexterity and visual acuity required
