Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient appointments
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools, adhering to infection control and aseptic techniques
- Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Open Dental and Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality
- Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to support safe treatment planning for patients with diverse needs
- Provide chairside assistance with dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge to facilitate smooth procedures
- Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting duties
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures in accordance with industry standards
- Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus
- Ability to perform dental X-rays accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety
- Strong grasp of dental terminology, medical coding, and medical records management for comprehensive documentation
- Experience in general dentistry settings involving chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and handling medical imaging equipment
