Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents or patients with dementia, Alzheimer's, or developmental disabilities
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning patient areas and laundry
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to safely transfer individuals with mobility challenges
- Observe and report changes in patient condition or behavior to healthcare professionals promptly
- Follow prescribed care plans meticulously while documenting care provided accurately in compliance with healthcare standards
- Engage in patient monitoring during activities to ensure safety, especially for those with memory or cognitive impairments
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a CNA or equivalent caregiving credential; relevant experience preferred
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and emergency response procedures
- Experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly desirable
- Familiarity with dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice care, and memory care practices
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and reporting changes effectively
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and families
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or overnight shifts as needed
