Security Guard and Parking Attendant –Unity Health Partnership
Position Summary:
The Security Guard patrols the building to ensure the safety and protection of the children in care, staff, and property. They also oversee the security of their assigned location, including the parking lot, ensure that only authorized individuals gain access to the facility, and report any disturbances or suspicious activity to the appropriate person. In addition, at the Unity Health location, the security guard/parking attendant will be responsible for vehicle guidance, enforcement of rules, and lot maintenance.
Job Responsibilities:

Ensure that all individuals entering the facility are authorized, sign in, and escorted to their destination if necessary. Challenge unauthorized visitors and escort them to exits.

Ensure that all staff wear identification badges

Perform routine facility inspections, including patrolling hallways and checking exits/entrances, offices, and outdoor spaces to ensure they are safe and debris-free.

Perform opening and closing procedures each day.

Assist staff, police, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations.

Notify appropriate personnel and supervisors of any emergency or potentially dangerous or unusual situations, following up with local police if appropriate.

Direct motorists into open parking spaces using hand signals or traffic wands when necessary.

Patrol lots to ensure vehicles display valid permits and arrange for towing when necessary.

Watch for safety and fire hazards and other security-related situations.

Monitor all deliveries to the building to ensure security is not breached.

Observe the facility for suspicious activity, monitor CCTV cameras, and report hazards or property damage.

Welcome clients/visitors, answer questions, provide directions, and help drivers with parking instructions.

Display and demonstrate ethical behavior in all interactions with co-workers and external stakeholders.

Ensure confidentiality of records and information; use discretion when sharing any information.

Perform custodial and building maintenance as needed, including clearing the parking area of debris and other light maintenance work

Monitor and identify issues related to Building systems.

Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:

High school diploma or the equivalent

English fluency – Speak, read, and write.

Three years of related experience, preferably in security.

Demonstrate excellent integrity, good moral character, and initiative.

Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.

Ability to pick up, lift up to 50 pounds, sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.

Must present a professional attitude and develop and maintain good working relationships with children, families, co-workers, and external stakeholders.
Mandated Reporting:
As per New Jersey mandated reporting guidelines, any person having reasonable cause to believe that a child has been subjected to abuse or acts of abuse should immediately report this information to the State Central Registry (SCR). If the child is in immediate danger, call 911 as well as 1-877 NJ ABUSE (1-877-652-2873).”
