Patrols highways and enforces the laws of the state to protect life and property. Limited to part-time Highway Patrol-related duties and responsibilities. May be assigned to specialized Highway Patrol functions including motorcycle patrol, collision and criminal investigations, paramedic duties, community relations, or administration. Performs related duties as assigned.
Must successfully complete the Firearms Assessment.
Requires current AZ POST certification as a regular peace officer and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a sworn classification employed continuously at the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Must have successfully completed the State Trooper Academy and the Department’s Field Training Program and probationary period.
Must have achieved a satisfactory or above overall rating on the most recent evaluation.
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver license at the time of and throughout employment.
Must be an AZPOST Certified General Instructor.

POSITION AGREEMENTS:
Part-Time State Troopers shall not be considered on-call.
Part-Time State Troopers shall achieve and maintain specialty training, certifications, or instructor certifications as assigned.Department of Public Safety sworn personnel are stationed throughout Arizona, with some individuals living in Utah, California, Nevada, and Colorado. Part-Time State Troopers may be assigned to any of these locations.
Must successfully complete the examination process. Must successfully complete the Firearms Assessment.
