Summary
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Warehouse Assistant to join our team in Dallas, TX. The Warehouse Assistant supports the daily operations of the company’s internal equipment rental and warehouse program. This role assists with inventory control, equipment coordination, yard operations, and administrative processes to ensure project teams are supported through reliable availability, accurate tracking, disciplined processes, and consistent service. The Warehouse Assistant works under the direction of the Warehouse Manager and Senior Warehouse Manager.
Essential Functions
- Assist with daily warehouse and yard operations including receiving, staging, issuing, returning, maintaining, and storing rental equipment and materials. – 50%
- Support accurate check-in/check-out processes and ensure all rental activity is properly recorded within the rental management system. – 15%
- Conduct routine physical inventory counts and assist with reconciliation of discrepancies. – 15%
- Coordinate equipment deliveries and returns to jobsites in alignment with project schedules and priorities. – 10%
- Inspect incoming and outgoing equipment for condition, completeness, cleanliness, and readiness; document and report damage or maintenance needs. – 5%
- Fix damaged equipment and help with maintenance. – 5%
Additional duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a warehouse and yard environment; employees must follow OSHA and company safety procedures and use required PPE.
Job Requirements
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state Department of Transportation regulations.
- Valid driver’s license required
- Forklift certified
- CDL license preferred
- Ability to pass a DOT physical required
- Minimum 1 – 2 years warehouse or construction experience
- 10-hour OSHA training preferred
- CPR/First Aid training preferred
- Construction experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or schedule form
- Must be able to read safety rules; instructions for the use and maintenance of trucks and tools; equipment manuals; and methods and procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow safety rules and tool / equipment instructions
- Welding skills preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. frequently.
Ability (licensed) to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods.
Must be able to be outside during extreme temperatures.
