Schilling Forge has an opening for a full time Forge Hammer Operator. This position will report to the General Manager. Hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (Summer Hours 6:00 am to 2:30 pm Memorial Day to Labor Day).
Forge Hammer Operator
General Objective:
Setup and operate a forging hammer to forge parts from carbon and stainless steel.
General Responsibilities:
- Loading forging furnaces with raw material blanks.
- Use a controller to manage forging furnace temperature.
- Forge parts by properly operating a forging hammer.
- Change and setup forging dies.
- Operate a pneumatic hammer to install dies.
- Visually verify parts are being forged properly without defects.
- Accurately record production data such as completed, scrap, and order quantities.
- Care of equipment through performing preventative maintenance.
- Cleaning of machines and area.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
General Requirements:
- Flexibility – Willing to adjust priorities as the business requires.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds periodically.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Visual acuity for product inspection.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Able to concentrate for extended periods of time.
- Must be a team player.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Must have safe work habits.
