Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Composite Technician to join our dynamic team. The Composites Technician is responsible for the production of quality carbon fiber tubes by way of machine operation, machine setup, maintenance, and other manufacturing support activities. Must be willing to work swing or night shifts.
Duties
- Pultrusion Machine Setup:
· Utilize checklist before each run to ensure the machine is setup properly
· Install machine components according to setup documentation
· Thread carbon filament into machine guides according to setup documentation
· Clean and thoroughly inspect machine tooling before putting into service.
· Ensure all tools and consumables are in their respective machine locations
- Pultrusion Machine Operation:
· Ensure all machine settings are correct and make necessary adjustments throughout the production run
· Monitor machine for signs of quality deviation or production threat and resolve them
· Monitor machine consumables and prevent any associated interruptions to production
· Follow all safety guidelines, including appropriate use of PPE
- Upkeep of Building and Machine:
· Ensure the machine does not accumulate debris or resin
· Prevent cross contamination of resin to surfaces not designated for resin using disposable coverings
· Dispose of chemicals or contaminated material correctly, documented in standard operating procedures
· Ensure the floor is free of debris, resin, or other spills
· Record and communicate detailed pass-downs to oncoming shifts
· Document all machine maintenance events and downtimes
· Track and carry out preventative maintenance activities
· Organize and maintain quality control records for the products produced
· Maintain familiarity with the SDS’ of all chemicals involved with process
· Restock all consumables and ensure sufficient quantities are kept on hand
· Operate ancillary equipment such as ovens, mixers, forklifts, etc.
· Setup, run, collect data, and report on engineering experiments
· May be cross trained to assist with CNC production

Qualifications for this position include:

· Proficient with common hand and power tools
· Ability to troubleshoot systems and processes
· 1-2 years’ experience with composites preferred
· 1-2 years’ experience maintaining machinery preferred
· Forklift certification preferred
· High School diploma or equivalent
Drug Screening and Background Check are required as part of the onboarding process.
